Constitution Day 2025: Key Highlights and Reforms

On November 26, 2025, Constitution Day was celebrated in the Central Hall of the Indian Parliament. President Droupadi Murmu highlighted several historic reforms and initiatives during the event.

• Triple Talaq Abolition: President Murmu called it a historic step empowering women across the country.
• GST Reform: The introduction of GST has strengthened India’s economic unity and is considered the largest tax reform since independence.
• Article 370 Removal: This step removed obstacles that hindered the country's political unity.
• Women's Leadership Development: The 'Nari Shakti Bandhan' law will foster development led by women.
• Constitution in 7 New Languages: Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese. This will allow more citizens to read and understand the Constitution in their own language.
• Special Programs: Celebrating 150 years of the composition of 'Vande Mataram' with special events nationwide.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, opposition leaders, and MPs from both houses attended the event. The original English-Hindi copy of the Indian Constitution is preserved in a nitrogen box at the Getty Conservation Institute, California.
