N. Chandrasekaran Joins IMF Advisory Board on Entrepreneurship and Development
N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, has been appointed to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Advisory Board on Entrepreneurship and Development. The IMF, in a statement, said that the aim is to create more favorable macroeconomic and financial conditions to support strong and sustainable economic growth. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva called an inaugural meeting with new members, including Chandrasekaran, who is popularly known as ‘Chandra’. He is also a member of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Board.
IMF’s Efforts for Economic Growth
Georgieva stated, "The medium-term outlook for global economic growth is at its lowest level in decades." She further said, "The main reason for this slowdown is the decline in productivity growth." She explained that the Advisory Board brings together leading thinkers and professionals from business, finance, education, and policymaking to share their thoughts and experiences on how macroeconomic and financial policies can create an enabling environment for innovation, entrepreneurship, and productivity, which are key drivers of a thriving private sector and robust economic growth.
