नेशनल हेराल्ड मामले में ईडी ने 21 नवंबर को बड़ी कार्रवाई करते हुए कांग्रेस से जुड़े एसोसिएटेड जर्नल्स लिमिटेड (AJL) और यंग इंडिया के 751 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की संपत्ति जब्त की है। केंद्रीय जांच एजेंसी ने बताया कि यह कार्रवाई मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग जांच के तहत की गई है जिसमें दिल्ली मुंबई और लखनऊ जैसे कई शहरों में फैले संपत्ती को अस्थायी रूप से जब्त कर लिया गया है। गौरतलब है कि 1937 में द एसोसिएट नाम से कंपनी बनाई गई थी, इसके मूल निवेशकों में जवाहरलाल नेहरू समेत 5,000 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी थे। यह कंपनी नेशनल हेराल्ड, नवजीवन और कौमी आवाज अखबारों का प्रकाशन करती थी। धीरे-धीरे कंपनी घाटे में चली गई और कांग्रेस पार्टी ने 90 करोड़ रुपये का लोन देकर कंपनी को घाटे की उबारने की कोशिश की। हालांकि, वह सफल नहीं हो पाई।

इसी बीच 2010 में यंग इंडिया के नाम से एक अन्य कंपनी बनाई गई, जिसमें 76 प्रतिशत शेयर सोनिया गांधी और राहुल गांधी के पास और 12-12 प्रतिशत शेयर मोतीलाल बोरा और आस्कर फर्नांडिस के पास था। कांग्रेस पार्टी ने अपना 90 करोड़ का लोन नई कंपनी यंग इंडिया को ट्रांसफर कर दिया। लोन चुकाने में पूरी तरह से असमर्थ द एसोसिएट जर्नल ने अपना सारा शेयर यंग इंडिया को ट्रांसफर कर दिया। इसके बदले में यंग इंडिया ने महज 50 लाख रुपये द एसोसिएट जर्नल को दिए।

Meanwhile, in 2010, another company was formed by the name of Young India, in which 76 percent shares were held by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and 12-12 percent shares were held by Motilal Bora and Oscar Fernandes. Congress Party transferred its loan of Rs 90 crore to the new company Young India. Completely unable to repay the loan, The Associate Journal transferred its entire shares to Young India. In return, Young India gave only Rs 50 lakh to The Associate Journal.
