Asia's First High-Speed Rail Test Track to Launch in India

India is set to launch Asia’s first high-speed train testing track in the Didwana-Kuchaman district of Rajasthan. The track, under construction for the last five years, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The high-speed test track spans 62 kilometers and includes 37 curves and several bridges, designed to simulate real-world conditions for train testing. Trains will be tested at speeds up to 220 kilometers per hour. In the future, this track could also be used to test bullet trains.

The track includes:

  • 23 km mainline
  • 13 km high-speed loop at Gudha Salt
  • 3 km quick testing loop at Nawan
  • 20 km curve testing loop at Mithdi

Approximately 80% of the construction is already complete between Gudha and Nawan. Work is currently underway from Nawan City to Mithdi village.

This landmark project is being overseen by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). Once completed, India will join an elite group of countries with independent high-speed rail testing capabilities.
