Amaravati to Become World's First 100% Renewable Energy-Powered City
Amaravati, the future capital of Andhra Pradesh, is on the path to making history. This city is aiming to become the world's first city fully powered by renewable energy. Urban planners are preparing to create a modern and environmentally friendly 'People's Capital'.
According to officials, with an ambitious plan to produce 2,700 MW of renewable energy, the city intends to meet all its electricity needs from sustainable sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's ambitious new capital city project reflects India's broader commitment to renewable energy and climate action. The foundation stone for this new capital, located on the banks of the Krishna River, is expected to be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this month.
This ₹65,000 crore project will span 217 square kilometers, while the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region extends over 8,352 square kilometers.
