Agriculture-Based Small Industries to be Set Up in Every District of Madhya Pradesh
On 23rd November, it was highlighted that agriculture contributes the most to Madhya Pradesh’s economy. From pulses and oilseeds to horticultural crops, Madhya Pradesh ranks first in production. The state has decided to link this agricultural output with farmers’ economic well-being and celebrate 2026 as the Year of Industry.
Promotion of Small Industries
To increase farmers’ income, create local employment, and boost the economy, agriculture-based small industries will be set up in every district of Madhya Pradesh. The Department of Agriculture is collaborating with the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department to implement a detailed action plan. The aim is to establish a network of low-cost industries across the state. Investors will be supported through the Investment Promotion Scheme, and cooperative societies will be actively involved.
Local Employment and Cooperative Development
The focus is on promoting small industries so that farmers receive fair prices for their produce and middlemen do not take undue profit. Local employment opportunities will increase, and cooperative societies will be linked with industries to enable marketing and branding of products. Food processing units will be established at development block levels.
Focus on Animal Husbandry
Farmers will also be encouraged to adopt animal husbandry. Incentives will be provided per animal, and milk products will be collected through government cooperatives. A bonus of ₹5 per liter will be given. Gobar gas plants will produce organic manure, benefiting the farmers directly.
Related Legal Update: PMLA Searches
The court observed that Section 17 does not restrict searches only to premises of persons named in complaints. Even if a person is not an accused, if they are a recipient of proceeds from a crime without criminal intent, searches can be conducted. This comment was made in a case related to money laundering activities involving Hasan Ali Khan and the defreezing of cash and electronic equipment seized from the late Amalendu Pandey’s premises. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted the search as the authorities were aware that money laundering activities were still ongoing.
