Consensus Reached on Tourism and Multi-Sectoral Cooperation with Maldives in Davos
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held a one-to-one meeting with Maldives’ Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mr. Mohamed Saeed. During the discussion, both sides explored ways to advance cooperation across multiple sectors, with tourism as the shared foundation.
The talks focused on strengthening collaboration in areas such as medical services, education, wildlife conservation, and cultural exchange. The leaders emphasized the potential of tourism-led partnerships to create long-term and mutually beneficial outcomes.
Opportunities for Long-Term Partnership
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that there are several sectors where Madhya Pradesh and Maldives can build long-term partnerships based on complementary strengths. He highlighted medical tourism, fisheries, education, healthcare services, wildlife conservation, and cultural activities as key dimensions of future cooperation.
A Capable Partner for Global Collaboration
Dr. Yadav emphasized that Madhya Pradesh’s rich biodiversity, internationally renowned wildlife sanctuaries, rapidly developing medical infrastructure, and strong cultural heritage position the state as a capable partner for global collaboration. He also underlined that tourism-based cooperation would strengthen investment flows, skill development, and people-to-people connections.
Maldives Keen to Expand Cooperation
Maldives’ Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mr. Mohamed Saeed, described tourism as a natural and powerful bridge between the two regions. He expressed Maldives’ keen interest in working with Madhya Pradesh to expand opportunities in tourism, human resource development, and knowledge sharing.
Strengthening International Cooperation
During the meeting, both sides agreed to institutionalize mutual dialogue, encourage delegation-level visits, and move forward with a concrete roadmap for cooperation. This interaction at the World Economic Forum in Davos is being viewed as an important step toward strengthening international collaboration.
