8th Pay Commission to Be Formed

The Indian government has decided to form the 8th Pay Commission, which will lead to an increase in the salaries of millions of employees. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The commission is expected to submit its report by 2026.

The formation of the 8th Pay Commission comes as a gift for millions of central government employees in the new year. On January 16, the government approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission, and based on the commission's report, employees' salaries and pensioners' pensions will increase. Over one crore people will benefit from this decision.

Traditionally, the Central Pay Commission is formed every 10 years to review and recommend changes in the salary structure, allowances, and benefits of government employees. The commission considers factors such as inflation and economic conditions while making decisions. The 7th Pay Commission, formed by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, submitted its report on November 19, 2015, and its recommendations were implemented from January 1, 2016.

According to this timeline, the 8th Pay Commission is expected to come into effect from January 1, 2026. As with previous commissions, it is expected that salary revisions will take place under the recommendations of this commission. The commission's recommendations will also include adjustments in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners.
