The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on July 8 announced star badminton player PV Sindhu as the women's flag bearer for the Paris Olympic Games, while table tennis star Sharath Kamal will be the flag bearer for the men's contingent.

After a change in Olympic protocol in 2020 (held in 2021), each country participating in the Olympics will have to name one male and one female flag bearer. Mary Kom (boxing) and former hockey captain Manpreet Singh were named as flag bearers at the Tokyo Olympics.
