President Mohammad Muizzu, who came to power in Maldives last year by running an anti-India campaign, is now ready to enter into a free trade agreement (FTA) with India, accept Indian UPI, allow India to open a new embassy, strengthen its defense capability with India's help, promote Indian investment in the infrastructure sector. President Muizzu, who came to India for the first time on an official visit, had a bilateral meeting with PM Narendra Modi on 7 October and in this he looked completely different from his pro-China image. He is now ready to increase cooperation with India in all the areas on which he has been opposing India. He invited more tourists from India and also praised PM Modi for rescuing his country from the financial crisis.
