Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das has decided not to raise interest rates for the 8th consecutive time. The focus of the Reserve Bank is currently on controlling inflation. With this decision of RBI, the EMI of the loans of common people will not increase. The new monetary policy has been announced on 7 June. Das has maintained the repo rate at 6.5 percent for the 8th consecutive time. Earlier, the repo rate was last increased by 0.25 percent in February 2023. The RBI MPC meeting to review interest rates was held between June 5 and June 7, in which 4 out of the 6-member MPC have decided not to change the interest rates on the basis of majority. By the way, the European Central Bank had cut interest rates by 0.25 percent. While Canada had also cut interest rates.

RBI MPC has also not made any change in the estimated inflation figures. Retail inflation may remain at 4.5 percent in the financial year 2025. While inflation is estimated at 4.9 percent in the first quarter. Inflation rate may remain at 3.8 percent in the second quarter. Inflation rate figure may remain at 4.6 percent in the third quarter. While the inflation figure may remain at 4.5 percent in the fourth quarter. According to the RBI Governor, food inflation will have to be monitored in the current financial year. According to SBI, inflation rate may remain at 5 percent in the month of May.

RBI's sentiment has been positive on the GDP front. RBI Governor has increased the estimate of GDP growth rate. According to the RBI Governor, India's g rowth rate may remain at 7.2 percent in the financial year 2025. Earlier, the RBI Governor had estimated 7 percent. While 7.3 percent growth is estimated in the first quarter. In the second quarter, this estimate was at 7.2 percent. Talking about the same third quarter, it may remain at 7.3 percent.
