Indian Army Jawan Havildar Vivek Singh Tomar, who lived in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh, was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra. Jawan Havildar Vivek Singh Tomar, who lived in Ruar village of Ambah under Morena district, was martyred on 11 January 2023 while evacuating his fellow soldiers from a smoke-filled building amid minus 52 degrees Celsius of Siachen Glacier. In view of his indomitable courage, he has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra. The Shaurya Chakra will be handed over to his wife Rekha by President Draupadi Murmu at a ceremony organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi.
