Governor CP Radhakrishnan has appointed Hemant Soren as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Hemant Soren took the oath of office and secrecy at the Birsa Mandap of Raj Bhavan on 4 July. The Governor has appointed Hemant Soren as CM using the powers given in Article 164 (1) of the Constitution.
Indian Administrative Service officer Avinash Kumar has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary of the new Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren. The Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Official Language has issued a notification in this regard. After the swearing-in of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Vinod Kumar, Under Secretary to the Government, issued this notification on the orders of the Governor of Jharkhand.
After Champai Soren resigned, Hemant Soren staked claim to form the government. The Governor called the leaders of the India Alliance to the Raj Bhavan at 12 noon on 4 July. Hemant Soren reached the Raj Bhavan with the leaders of the alliance. The Governor appointed Hemant Soren as the nominated Chief Minister of Jharkhand and invited him to form the government.
