The Eknath Shinde government in Maharashtra has given the status of state mother to the indigenous cow. Maharashtra is the first state in the country to do so. The government took this decision in the cabinet meeting on Monday. Indigenous cows are a boon for our farmers. Therefore, we have decided to give them the status of 'state mother'. Along with this, we are going to implement a subsidy scheme of Rs 50 per day for the maintenance of indigenous cows in cow shelters. Cow shelters could not bear this expense due to their low income, so this decision has been taken.
