Joint military exercise 'Nomadic Elephant' begins: On July 3, the joint military exercise 'Nomadic Elephant' between the armies of India and Mongolia started. This is the 16th edition of the exercise, which started in Umroi, Meghalaya. The 'Nomadic Elephant' exercise between India and Mongolia will run till July 16. The aim of this exercise is to enhance joint military capabilities for counter-terrorism operations in semi-urban and mountainous terrain.The Indian contingent comprising 45 personnel is represented by the battalion of Sikkim Scouts.The Mongolian contingent is represented by 150 Quick Reaction Force battalion.This exercise is held every year in rotation between the two countries.Last year, the 15th edition of 'Nomadic Elephant' was held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.The 'Nomadic Elephant' exercise was first started in 2006.
