Model Solar Village Scheme has been implemented by the Central Government under PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, PM Kusum Scheme to facilitate clean and green energy in rural areas and to reduce dependence on electricity use, in which the work done in relation to solar energy in agricultural pumps, street lights, water supply system and domestic lighting system in villages with a population of more than 5000 will be assessed and the village with the best work in the district will be given financial assistance of Rs 1 crore for solar energy related works. 27 villages have been selected for Model Solar Village Development in Indore district. In the meeting held in the meeting hall of District Panchayat Indore, the works of Model Solar Village Abhiyan in 27 villages selected by CEO District Panchayat were reviewed. The progress of the baseline survey regarding the work done so far on solar energy in the village by the selected Panchayats was presented. Along with this, information was given about the proposed action plan for setting up solar energy plant in the campaign. The Superintendent of Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company told in the meeting that under Component A of PM Kusum Yojana, farmers can install solar plants of up to 2 MW capacity on their less fertile/barren land.
