2027 Census to be Digital, Citizens Can Register Information from Home
Preparations for the 2027 Census have gained momentum. The census, being held after 15 years, will be more modern and digital. This year, the enumeration of houses will be done, and next year, the population will be counted. The entire process will be digital, with enumerators collecting data online by visiting each household.
For the first time, the general public will also be able to self-register their information online from the comfort of their homes. The first meeting of the district-level committee formed for the census took place on Monday at the Collectorate office. It was decided that the process of house numbering for creating census blocks will begin, and this will be done simultaneously in both urban and rural areas.
After the central government's notification, the state government of Madhya Pradesh has also taken charge. By December 31, 2025, the boundaries of all 52 districts in the state will be frozen, meaning no new districts, tehsils, or sub-divisions can be created until the census process is completed. In Indore, a district-level census committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Collector, and four master trainers have also been appointed.
