At the same time, a new component bio-manufacturing and bio-foundry has been added to the Bio-RIDE scheme. The Bio-RIDE scheme will continue from the 15th Finance Commission period 2021-22 to 2025-26. The proposed expenditure of the scheme from 2021-2025-26 is Rs 9,197 crore. The objective of this scheme is to promote and nurture the ecosystem for startups in the field of biotechnology. Apart from this, innovation and research is to be promoted in advanced areas like bio-plastics, synthetic biology, bio-pharmaceuticals and bio-energy by providing funds.
