Elon Musk has once again raised the baseball bat in favour of paper ballots instead of machines in elections. Responding to a question during a town hall event in Pennsylvania, USA, where he appeared at a rally with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Musk, CEO of electric car maker Tesla, said: "My view is: paper ballots, counted by hand." Elaborating on his aim to keep technology away from elections, the technology billionaire said: "I am a technologist and know a lot about computers. I would not trust a computer program. Because it is very easy to hack, even adding just one line [of code] is very easy; and paper ballots are difficult to hack." He spoke for barely 58 seconds supporting paper ballots, available on the YouTube channel of The National Desk, a daily American TV news program produced by Sinclair Broadcast Group. The National Desk is considered to be a supporter of conservatism. The Indian Election Commission also added a disclaimer: "Robust technical security measures in electronic voting machines and elaborate administrative, security measures, procedures and protections implemented by the ECI ensure that elections are transparent, free and fair." A 58-second clip was widely shared on social media by supporters of India's opposition parties, in which Musk spoke in favor of paper ballots.
