Typhoon Yagi, Asia's most powerful storm in the year 2024, wreaked havoc in Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam a week ago, reportedly killing more than 170 people in Vietnam and about 40 in Myanmar. At the same time, various parts of the three Southeast Asian countries are grappling with heavy floods after Typhoon Yagi. India launched Operation Sadbhav on September 15 to help Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam affected by Typhoon Yagi. Under this, India sent immediate humanitarian relief assistance to help Southeast Asian countries deal with the devastating impact. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that Operation Sadbhav is part of a broader effort to contribute to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) within the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region, in line with India's 'Act East Policy'. India has sent humanitarian relief assistance of US $ 1000000 to Vietnam and US $ 100000 to Laos.
