Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has announced the dates for Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections on October 15. Voting will be held in two phases in Jharkhand on November 13 and 20, while voting will be held in Maharashtra on November 20. Along with the assembly, the date of by-elections in 15 states including Bihar and UP was also released. The results of the elections will come on November 23.

The decision to hold elections in two phases in Jharkhand has been taken due to security reasons in view of Naxal activities. During this time, about 2.6 crore voters in Jharkhand and about 9.63 crore voters in Maharashtra will exercise their franchise. Anyway, the term of the current assembly of Jharkhand is till January 5, 2025 and the term of Maharashtra Assembly is till November 26. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said about the preparations made for the elections in both the states, 'Recently the commission visited both the states. All the preparations have been found to be good. All kinds of facilities have been arranged for the voters at every polling station in both the states. Special arrangements have been made so that people do not have to stand in long queues and instructions have been given to arrange chairs or benches to sit in between the lines. The elections in both the states will be over in about a month.
