All private and government schools in Jammu and Kashmir have been instructed to start the morning assembly with the national anthem. Along with this, it has been asked to create awareness about the environment and against drug addiction. The School Education Department of Jammu and Kashmir has instructed all schools in the Union Territory to start the morning assembly with the national anthem. The Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, through a circular, directed all schools to make the morning assembly uniform across the Union Territory. The circular issued states, 'As per the standard protocol, the morning assembly should start with the national anthem.' The department said that the morning assembly has proved to be an invaluable ritual in instilling a sense of unity and discipline in the students. The assemblies serve as platforms to nurture the values of moral integrity, shared community and mental peace. However, it has been observed that such an important ritual is not being performed uniformly in different schools of the state. The circular suggests 16 steps for schools. The department suggested that guest speakers be invited. Awareness should be created about the environment and awareness should be created against the danger of drugs. Schools should include these things in morning assemblies.
