Gwalior has the first Gaushala in the country where destination weddings are possible. The entire event will be held with Vedic chanting. A cultural pavilion is being prepared for this at a cost of Rs 20 lakh. The first wedding will be held on January 22. The Gaushala will arrange for Brahmins to conduct the wedding. The family organising the wedding ceremony in the Gaushala will have to provide green fodder to the cattle before serving food to the guests. A maximum of 500 people will be able to attend the ceremony. The total cost of the event will be Rs 2 to 3 lakh. Regarding the initiative of marriage in the Gaushala, the saints of Laltipara Adarsh Gaushala in Murar say that in the era of destination weddings, the wedding ceremony in the Gaushala is being organised to connect the young generation with their culture and rituals. Also, electricity and other expenses can be saved by having the wedding during the day. The saints preparing the mandap told that before the rule of the Mughals, marriages in India were organised during the day only.
