India's rapidly growing digital economy, affordable data, and the increasing number of startups have brought about significant changes in people's income and lifestyle.

The report further revealed that the Android system generated ₹4 lakh crore for Indian app developers and the economy in 2024. This means that people in India are making significant earnings by developing, using, and running apps on Android mobiles.

Impact of Google Play and Android in India

The report evaluating the impact and contribution of Google Play and Android revealed that India's digital economy is the largest in the world, and its growth rate is the fastest among other economies. The increasing use of smartphones, affordable data, and the growing number of developer startups are the main driving factors behind this. As a result, ordinary people's lives have undergone a major transformation.

More than 35 Lakh Jobs Created

According to the report, Google Play and the Android ecosystem have directly and indirectly created over 35 lakh jobs. Android is the most widely used mobile operating system in the world. It runs on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and various other smart devices from multiple manufacturers. Google Play serves as the official app store and digital distribution service for Android.

India Becomes a Developer Hub

India has over 10 lakh active app developers on Google Play. With this, India ranks second in the world in terms of the number of registered active developers on Google Play. Around 79% of Indian app developers have users overseas as well. This serves as proof of the international recognition of Indian talent. In 2024, Indian app developers' apps were downloaded 720 million times, with 600 million downloads in India and 120 million downloads overseas.
