The newly elected MLAs of Haryana and top BJP leaders announced Nayab Singh Saini as the Chief Minister of the state and he took oath as the Chief Minister of Haryana on 17 October. Haryana's caretaker Chief Minister Mr Saini was elected leader in the BJP Legislature Party meeting held in Panchkula, Haryana on 16 October. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who attended the meeting as the party observer, announced that Mr Saini has been unanimously elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party.
